What is an Integrated Information Distribution System (IIDS)?

How does it work?

An IIDS is essentially an application running behind the scenes on a server within your organisation. It maintains a data repository with details of all your important information: where it can be found, its current status, what categories it belongs to, which user groups should have access to it and a host of other related information.

While system administrators have a direct interface to the IIDS, to the end user it is a faceless application. There is no new user interface to learn. Access to the information catalogued in the repository is made available through a suite of web services that can integrate seamlessly with your familiar everyday applications. Once up and running, the system is self maintaining … information entered into any IIDS enabled application is automatically routed to the relevant component of your IT infrastructure and the IIDS repository is updated to include a reference to the new data.
